True community can only be experienced where there is transparency.

Today, I met with some other pastors as we begin a new journey together. We are each wanting to live and lead in a way that honors God and fulfills His purposes in our churches and our families.

We decided this will not be “another meeting” nor will it be a program we follow. Instead, we will make this be a small group like the ones we want happening in our churches where people come together around a common factor and learn and grow and journey together in God’s Word and God’s path.

We have committed that it will be a safe place where we can say what needs to be said and ask anything that needs to be asked. We will disagree at times and we will call each other out. We will pray and support the others through the challenges each faces.

This is community.

The idea and hope is that it will help us become better leaders, better fathers, better husbands, better men of God.

For what it’s worth, I think every leader needs something like this. In fact, every believer needs something like this.

What are some things you have done to engage in true community?
