What a great weekend!
The Capital City Church Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday was a great success. There were over 11,000 eggs on the field at Winterset Elementray school. We had a wonderful group of volunteers (too many to mention) who arrived more than 2 hours before the event to help set up. That is after weeks of stuffing the 11,000 plastic eggs with candy. There were about 100 families registered from the neighborhood who are not regular attenders to CapCity! That is why we do an event like this. Pastor Staci, our Children’s Pastor, did an amazing job coordinating the event and leading the team. This was truly a whole church event.
After the egg hunt, we took the youth who helped out at the hunt bowling. We had a blast. It is always fun and “educational” to hang out with teens. Matt and Nathan were the bowling champs for the day.
Saturday night brought the men of the church together to watch the Final Four. Another great time as we ate too much and talked trash while watching the games on four screens in the youth room between rounds of pool, ping pong, and Guitar Hero. Thanks guys (Allen, Troy, Scott, RJ) for putting everything together.
Sunday morning was a beautiful sunrise! Perfect Resurrection Sunday morning.
We had our SonRose Breakfast before church. It was the biggest turnout anyone can remember for that event! The food was terrific (thank you everyone who made a dish)! Adam & Krista worked very hard to get everything set up and ready. Thank you.
The Easter celebration service was incredible. The music, the videos, the communion, was all very meaningful. Lives were touched and moved. The response just before communion and then the verbal responses after the service were quite powerful. It was a God thing.
Because of the nature of our church demographics, Easter has trended as a slight dip in attendance in the past. However, Sunday that was broken and we had our second highest Sunday attendance of the year.
God is doing great things at Capital City Church and the stories of life change are coming in weekly. Hang on church because God is just getting started.
