It has been said, “your attitude determines your altitude.” I think we all know the importance of attitude. We feel the effects of a negative attitude. We enjoy the perks of a positive attitude. We cringe when someone is full of attitude. Yet, we don’t always take control of our attitude.
One of the things I have learned is that attitude is really a fruit of character. A person’s character is seen in their attitude. The strength they have, the resolve, the outlook, depth of who they are, these are all reflected with the attitude with which a person lives their life. The thing is, we all know it.
When someone is rude or impatient, we immediately judge their character. When a person is bubbly and cheerful, we make assumptions about who they are.
It doesn’t matter if it is a temporary attitude, a result of the moment, we have judged that person’s character and defined them by their attitude. And, others do that to us as well, all day, every day. Our attitude determines how we are perceived.
Proverbs 27:19 states it clearly, “As water reflects the face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”
Over the next few posts we will hit 3 areas of our character that determine our attitude.
In the meantime, what do you have to say about attitude?
