Along with patience, our level of honesty & integrity has significant impact on our attitude. This deep character issue is one that causes very positive or very negative results in people’s lives.

14:8 “The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.”

Even the ungodly know this. People who deny God still understand this principle: deception leads to pain. Dishonest gain is temporary gain at best and no gain at all in the end.

Movies that are full of vulgarity, ill conceived ideas, perversity, and God-less ideology still often portray the negative results of a dishonest lifestyle. One of the funnier ones is Liar, Liar. While there are pitfalls within this movie, as a modern day fable pointing out the problems with dishonesty, it is quite effective.

10:9 “The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.”

Lack of integrity always comes out. A person living a dishonest life will eventually be called to task and exposed. We have example after example of this in public figures. Most of the time it can be seen in the little things first and then it escalates until everything has been brought to light.

Transparency is a scary thing at first, but when it’s structure is integrity, it is incredibly liberating. If you always tell the truth and live an honesty life of good integrity, you never have to worry about what is hidden in your life being found out.

Go ahead and weigh in with your thoughts on honesty and integrity.
