40 random thoughts on my 40th birthday

  1. 40th birthdayI don’t feel as old as I once thought 40 was.
  2. My daughters are having a blast with me turning 40 and calling me old.
  3. My wife got me a really cool laptop bag from Fossil.
  4. I have looked forward to and dreaded this birthday more than any other in my life (for all silly and superficial reasons).
  5. I still haven’t gone skydiving… as soon as it warms up. Who’s with me?
  6. We need one more good snowstorm so I can go skiing.
  7. I am feeling the love on Facebook.
  8. I am also feeling the “love” on Facebook… you know who you are… 😉
  9. How in the world did we ever wish anyone a “Happy Birthday!” before Facebook? (Scarey, thing is, it almost does seem hard to imagine.)
  10. If you are expecting to see a pattern or purpose to the order of these, good luck.
  11. I’m trying to decide if my mid-life crisis would be more complete with a motorcycle or a Corvette…
  12. I can’t stand cold rain.
  13. My wife turns 40 next year. That will be fun!

  21. I definitely appreciate experiences more now than I once did.
  22. I understand the statement, “Youth is wasted on the young.” However, I disagree with it. (that might need its own blog post)
  23. It is better to let regret motivate us to change than it is to let it cause us pain and immobilize us.

  26. I tried to think of the dumbest thing I ever did and there were too many!

  31. It really is true that you appreciate friendships more as you get older.
  32. I get to mark another item off the bucket list this year when we go to Machu Picchu in Peru in November.
  33. It took many years of struggle when I was younger, but I am so thankful that my biological mother had the courage to give me up for adoption.
  34. My daughter will be old enough to drive in less than 2 years… is that enough time to get the driver’s license age raised to 18?
  35. I am thrilled at what God is doing at CapCity right now and know that greater things are yet to come! 2013 All In!
  36. It is such a privilege to be a pastor. I so often am just floored by the fact that I get to do what I do.
  37. I am truly thankful for so many people that have poured in to and made positive impact in my life. I need to be better at letting them know.
  38. Lists like this are harder than they look…
  39. I don’t know everything I will be doing 20 years from now, but I hope I am a better person, a better Christian, a better husband, and a better father.
