A good small group accomplishes more than just increasing knowledge. A good small group has strong relationships. We need one another in our journey through life. We need those who will rejoice with us and cry with us and stand with us through the ebbs and flows of life. No person can walk through life alone and live up to their potential in God’s purposes.
Too many times, the church looks at discipleship and thinks that it is about a program, class, or study. Study and knowledge are a part of our growth, to be sure. However, the model that Jesus gave us for discipleship was a group of people living life together in community and fellowship. It wasn’t about earning a certificate or getting recognition. It was about knowing Christ and making Him known. It was about each one helping the other in their journey.
Synergy is a wonderful thing. There is so much more that can be accomplished when we are in unity. When we walk in the power of the Holy Spirit of God, the potential is without limit!
We have small groups because we need them. Each one of us. We need the relationship. We need the support. We need the knowledge. We need the prayer. The others around us need it from us as well.
For us, small groups are not a program. They are a necessity in our journey. They are essential to our purpose. They are vital to our mission to know Christ and make Him known.
