Here’s Why… Pass On

Pass On SmallThe final step in our ministry structure is not really the last step. It is a new beginning. A new beginning of purpose and life. Our four-part strategy Plug In, Charge Up, Live out, Pass on is a circular one. It is continuous as we walk it out as individuals, collectively, and with others that we bring with us along the way.

This fourth part is to Pass On our faith to others. This is outreach and mission. It is local community, national, and global in scale.

Again, this is not the responsibility of the few. It is a commission by God for all of us who are His followers.

At CapCity, we have formalized and organized efforts and events throughout the year to accomplish this mission. We have both invite events and go where people are events:

  • Super Bowl Party
  • Easter Egg Hunt
  • Leadercast
  • Summer Outreach
  • Halloween Outreach
  • Missions Trips
  • Breakfast with Santa
  • Operation Christmas Child
  • Christmas Eve
  • Monthly support of missionaries

These are great and we enjoy them and look forward to seeing lives changed as a result. However, by far the most effective way to Pass On faith is one on one, friend to friend. This is something everyone can do every day. In his letter to the church in Colosse, Paul gives us the key to effective daily evangelism:

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:5-6

This is for all of us. Our daily lives should reflect the love of Christ to the glory of God. If we do this with purpose and intention, we will see lives transformed by the Holy Spirit! This is how we Pass On our faith; one day, one moment, one life at a time.

There is no formula to this, no class that has to be taken first. It is as simple as asking God to help us and then every day living with our eyes open and aware to the people around us. When the opportunities present themselves, we step up and share the story of God in us. It is not about theology, not a time of debate, not a point to be made, it is showing and sharing love and grace from the Creator of our very existence and the Savior of our souls.

As we Pass On our faith to those around us by making Christ known in our daily lives our eyes are opened to new possibilities, we experience new joys, and we are lining up with the purpose of Christ Himself.
